Composer and pianist Amy Williams writes evocative music that draws imaginative connections between music and painting, poetry, film, photography, philosophy. Her work is often in dialogue with music of past luminaries including Art Tatum, John Cage, Charles Ives, György Ligeti, Igor Stravinsky, Nicola Vicentino and J.S. Bach. Her compositional approach is deeply influenced by decades of performing contemporary music as a chamber musician and soloist. She creates music with rhythmic complexity that has an enigmatic groove, expanded instrumental sound worlds, and engaging performer interactions.
